I don’t often post about such things, but this was such a well-done look at what can happen to gifted kids I thought I should share (with the caveat that I think the term “gifted” is rather ironic since it often feels like a curse). If you know kids like this, the “You may not need a hug but _I_ do” line may be the best thing going. Existential Depression in Gifted Children | The Unbounded Spirit. note: I’ve...
Food-n-Stuff
For many months now I’ve been taking pictures of stuff–life, my cooking, interesting-weird-things–always thinking, “ooh! Bowling Sunday
I slept in so I wasn’t part of the decision making process, but we went bowling on Sunday. There’s a ridiculous bowling alley near-by which is decorated to look like Bedrock (from the Flintstones). Goofiness aside, though, it’s’ really quite nice and well-maintained. Thning 1 monitored the lane. Thing 2 and the Husband kept tabs. Friend Deb in LA is going to freak out at my score. We bowled in late May when the fambly...
Happy Trails
Today we arose before five and headed to the Tucson INTERNATIONAL Airport. Cracks me up. (International. Snort.) Boys were thrilled. Mom a little less so, but Dad sat with boys so mom could listen to audiobook and knit. How awesome is THAT!? After a longish (but pleasant and free-via-miles) set of flights we landed— —and were picked up by Auntie Suzie. We were able to see Cousin Thom off to a fête in Finland then back to...
