My knitting/dying friend of the blog Cross Pollinating with Linda McKittrick has offered up The Chiltepin Challenge: Write a Creation Myth. Take a gander and give it a shot–and let her know I sent...
Rent a Sense of Humor
Sadly, the good people at Hotham Street Ladies were disqualified from a cake decorating competition in Melbourne, AU because their cake was in “bad taste.” This is the cake. And, in case you’re wondering, it’s Miss Havisham’s wedding cake. You’re going to have to go to the Hotham Street Ladies’ website to see more pics, but it will be worth it. Promise. As a tease, it’s the fondant maggots that I...
USB Typewriter
What kind of cool thing is this! USB Typewriter. The latent steampunky side of me would SO love to have one of these, but the practical wussy side of me notes that my fingers would get tired and I’d have to return the carriage over and over and over… I’ve become weak. I also don’t have an iPad, so… In other news, I leave for the first ever Annual CraftLit Tour Extravaganza–this year to London, Bath, and...

However, I did this for the UK trip since we’re heading over in the fall and not the...
2010 Harvest Talley

I seem to recall commiserating sitting behind her in our 8th grade English class as we suffered sat through endless 80 word spelling tests and sentence diagramming instruction. Okay, the diagramming was kind of cool. But I wasn’t about to admit that back then. Regardless. I would like to tell you...
Are You Allowed to Say You’re Working on Something…
…when all you have is the fabric?! We inherited two items of furniture, one from each side of the family–a chair from the Husband’s grandmother and an indoor bench from mine. Both need recovering. There is not a chance we can afford to have it done for us, but I kept looking at the cushions and thinking… “I could do that…” You know, in my spare time. Here’s the chair, mit fabric. And here’s...
