So, I wrote this book.
Then I tried to figure out how to help spread the word (because that’s the biggest fear, right? That we’re all just typing into the echo chamber of our own mind).

And then my husband says, “Socks.”

And then he gets this devilish gleam in his eye and says slowly, “Sock. Puppet. THEATER!”

We’ll table that last bit for a moment.
First, let me introduce you to Rosie’s Firestarter Socks. You can find out a bit more about Rosie at her homesite, but for now lets just say she has… unique challenges. However, one of those challenges is not knitting. She’s a better than average 17 year old knitter and she deserves a pair of socks (though all she knits in the book is a pair of faux-fair isle mitts and a shawl.

But socks were needed for all of the main characters in the book (else how can we get sock puppet theater going, right?)

Rosie’s socks are easy-to knit because there’s only little panel of something other than stockinette and that runs down the outside of the sock (so there’ s a right and a left sock).

But because Rosie hates to be bored…

…there’s also a Welsh heel (like the WWMDfK? Fosco socks) and a fitted arch.

These suckers FIT. They hug your foot nicely and the leg bit is easily extendable for you to make it as long as you need.Want to add calf shaping if you decide to go long? It’s easy to do because the back of the leg is pure stockinette. (Andi’s book Big Foot Knits would help with planning for that).
