Well, more specifically, go out and find some Nepal Wool Felt and some Wool Felt by the Yard and dig out the craft felt and and and&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Full disclosure: I have needle and noro felted\u2014in classes and on my own\u2014and I very much enjoyed it&#8230; but it never really stuck. I&#8217;ve wondered why over the years, but it wasn&#8217;t until this book that I finally got a glimmer of why.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>I never know what to DO with it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>I made a cute birdie.<\/em>.. well now, where can I put that? Somewhere where it wont be lost,<br \/>\noverwhelmed, whacked at by a cat, knocked off its perch by a kid, or covered in dust.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>I made a gorgeous noro shawl<\/em>&#8230; I work from home. I rarely go out to fancy places.<br \/>\nI have nowhere to wear the shawl to&#8230; but it&#8217;s gorgeous.<br \/>\nAnd in the cedar chest.<\/p>\n<p>Then this book comes along.<\/p>\n<p>Even the little tchotchkes are things where I can see a way to display them (most especially because of the way they were photographed). There are also decorations\u2014adornments for pillows as well as garlands and mobiles that I know I&#8217;ll be fiddling with soon.<\/p>\n<p>And the slippers.<\/p>\n<p>Ah.<\/p>\n<p>Slippers.<\/p>\n<p>Her clever design is just what I wanted\u00a0<em>and for\u00a0exactly\u00a0the same reason as she recommended.\u00a0<\/em>Make a bunch in different sizes and keep them in a basket by the door so guests can kick off muddy shoes and slip into something a little softer, warmer, and wonderfuler-er.<\/p>\n<p>Some items are adorable, but I won&#8217;t have much use for (because boys).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4076\" src=\"http:\/\/crafting-a-life.com\/mamaoknits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/FeltSoGood_1-2.jpg\" alt=\"FeltSoGood_1-2\" width=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/crafting-a-life.com\/mamaoknits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/FeltSoGood_1-2.jpg 284w, https:\/\/crafting-a-life.com\/mamaoknits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/FeltSoGood_1-2-215x300.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 284px) 100vw, 284px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some are pleasantly functional (and good Christmas present fodder).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4073\" src=\"http:\/\/crafting-a-life.com\/mamaoknits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/felt-coffe-holders.jpg\" alt=\"felt coffe holders\" width=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/crafting-a-life.com\/mamaoknits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/felt-coffe-holders.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/crafting-a-life.com\/mamaoknits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/felt-coffe-holders-259x300.jpg 259w, https:\/\/crafting-a-life.com\/mamaoknits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/felt-coffe-holders-887x1024.jpg 887w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And many show how to upcycle old sweaters (don&#8217;t forget to check the label. Wool won&#8217;t felt if it&#8217;s superwash or has nylon, polyamide, or any other synthetic mixed in. And if you&#8217;re looking to get a cheap sweater at the thrift store and unravel it\u2014<em>check the seams!<\/em> If the seams are cut and sewn together the yarn will be in sweater-wide lengths, rather than a continuous strand knitted around and around to create the sweater. This doesn&#8217;t matter if you&#8217;re felting and cutting the fabric yourself\u2014only if you want to unravel it to repurpose the yarn.)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4075\" src=\"http:\/\/crafting-a-life.com\/mamaoknits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/FeltSoGood_12.jpg\" alt=\"FeltSoGood_1\" width=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/crafting-a-life.com\/mamaoknits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/FeltSoGood_12.jpg 301w, https:\/\/crafting-a-life.com\/mamaoknits\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/FeltSoGood_12-218x300.jpg 218w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 301px) 100vw, 301px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>All in all, this is one of those books that I&#8217;ll be buying myself a copy of after giving this one away.
