(If you got the CraftLit September update today, you’ve already seen this—just FYI). So, so much has happened in the last month in my complete world (as opposed to my knitting world) that I needed to share—since some of it may affect you, too. Big Bleak Weekend Event! Wanna chat about the awesomeness of Bleak House? In real time?!? FACE to FACE?! You’re invited whether you read the book on your own or listened via CraftLit’s...

Move Along, Jo.

For those of you who have been listening to Bleak House with me on CraftLit, you might recognize that line, “move along, Jo…” but lest you worry that we’re being moved into Tom-All-Alones, let me put your fears aside. We’re just being kicked out of our place to make way for   a hyperspace bypass   evil luxury condos   a bigger place to take advantage of the new Silver Line down the street from us. So. We’re...

Matilda and Monuments

Posted by on Jan 31, 2014 in Artsy Things, Blog Fun, General Ranting, Love, review, Travel |

In January we took a whistle-stop trip to NYC for Thing 2’s 10th birthday. It’s becoming a thing (we saw Annie last year). This year we saw Matilda. You must go. Really, you must. There’s hope, then there’s not so much

First, the hope. Elena Kagan moves up to big-game hunting with Antonin Scalia. I tend to think the lack of civility in DC that we see on TV DOES have something to do with a decided lack of shmoozing across the aisles. There are lots of great stories and anecdotes of old-school friendships that crossed political lines in bygone years, but not so much of late. So. Happy that the Justices get along. That makes me happy.   Less hopeful is the...

Landed. Had Forgotten

Posted by on Jun 18, 2013 in Blog Fun, Family, Travel |

Oy! I’d forgotten how lovely the sea air is. After a few sleepless nights, it was important to begin the day of travel correctly. We landed in San Diego (great airport!) just before noon and I was already pretty wiped. The fog was lifting and the air had that crisp Pacific tang to it. Just perfect for Pandas. More pictures and fun tomorrow. Tonight, I...
