O so many things to link to!

Here are some links to…gluten free flour mix, the Jean Reno movie Les Visiteurs, iPhone app info!, Flatland needs readers (text in left sidebar of link). More iPhone app information will come as I know it. Those of you who indulge, I’ll try to make sure the launch isn’t TOO bumpy.

Further to Les Visiteurs – I saw the remake Just Visiting first (also with Jean Reno). It was entertaining – no classic – but fun and fluffy. The best part is, it inspired me to find the original which is fantastic. I also can’t think of anything I’ve seen with Jean Reno I haven’t enjoyed (I didn’t see the remake of the Pink Panther and have no wish to!). The first thing I remember seeing him in was Leon.

  2. Apologies for leaving this msg as a post – can’t access the contact form.

    RE. Migraines

I was reading through the BNF (British National Formulary – guidebook for UK doctors regarding medications) and I saw that they used to (and may still) prescribe alkaloids extracted from ergot for migranes. Ergot (C. purpurea) is a fungus that grows on wheat (as well as other grains).

You may already know that Ergot-infected wheat commonly poisoned people in Europe in the Middle Ages causing hallucinations, as well as a myriad of other neurological symptoms.

I just found the connection between a fungus that affects wheat being used as a treatment for a condition that can be caused by wheat (well, wheat gluten anyway). Is there a symbiotic relationship here, a built-in naturopathic treatment in wheat that perhaps we take out when we process it?

Or have I been reading too many novels and I’m looking for symbols everywhere?!?!

You can read about it in more detail on wikipedia if you’re interested, and come to your own conclusions. You just seem like the kind of person that would be curious about that kind of coincidence.

I hope you’re on the mend, ergot or not.

    Best regards,

    Jennifer

Heather, The episode is still not downloading. sob. I can’t remember if I download directly from the feed or iTunes.

  6. Should be fixed now. Let me know if there are other issues. This wonkiness was due to the iPhone additional stuff. It should be fixed and ready for the big opening now.

  7. iTunes is being wonky…. The episode doesn’t show up and iTunes also says the podcast URL isn’t valid. Unsubscribing & resubscribing didn’t fix it.
