Heather Ordover

An award winning New York City high school teacher, Ordover transitioned into writing full time after doing time serving her country spending ten years in the classroom. She started as project manager/writer on several large, urban core curriculum initiatives for Kaplan K-12 Learning Services. While her children were small she fell back to writing part-time and has stayed in that field ever since.

After leaving the high school classroom Ordover has written online content for Pearson's CD-ROM Elements of Grammar, Teacher's Notes for Scholastic's Literary Cavalcade, and several online masters-level courses in education for Kaplan Online University. Along with writing for education, Ordover has written and recorded essays for Cast-On: A Podcast for Knitters and currently hosts her own long-running online podcast, CraftLit: A Podcast for Crafters Who Love Books (think "books on tape with benefits"). Her crafty writing has appeared in Interweave Online's Sockupied, Spin-Off (2008, 2009), WeaveZine, Big Apple Parent, and The Arizona Daily Star. She currently teaches writing at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where she lives with her wonderful husband, her two goofy sons, their vigilant dogs, and a single, mournful, blue tongued skink.

Soon they will all be in Alexandria, Virginia (or the surrounding environs).
