Austen—015: Chapters 44–46

This week, chapters 44-46!

Did you hear Cast-on’s Essay last week? It was as though we dovetailed our themes on purpose! Synchronicity? Love that Jung!

Promos from Faith at The Knitting Cook, and Jeannie Gist of Crochet Cast.

As always, Pride and Prejudice is narrated by Karen Savage.

    Hey thanks Janice in GA!
You have no idea how many times I had to rewrite the blog due to crashes etc. I HAD the website.
    But not so permanently.

    Thanks again!

Hi Heather! I’m Amanda and I’ve been listening to your podcast for a month. It’s the first one I ever subscribed to :) Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books, so you can imagine how happy I was to find out that you put it in your podcast every week! I hope your move goes smoothly…I know that it can be tough! I look forward to hearing that you’ve arrived safely in Arizona. Also, just wanted to say how much I enjoyed last week’s discussion of Austen and feminism. I agree that true feminism is about choices. My mom went farther in her education than my dad, but she ended up staying home to raise us, and I don’t think she has regretted it one bit. I’m just 20 now, but I hope to have a career and also be there for my kids. It really bothers me when women feel like they shouldn’t stay home just because it might seem old-fashioned. It’s because of the feminist movement that my mom was able to make the best choice for her. I love Austen because it can be “chicklit,” as in “OMG Darcy=hotness!” but it also sparks really interesting conversation, like the essay you spoke about last week. It’s the best of both worlds, just like your podcast! Knitting and books = love!

I SO want to have a t-shirt that says
    OMG Darcy=HOTNESS!
just to see who gets it!
    Thank you so much.

    I agree–choices is what’s important.

And so far, the trip went well, made it From NY to Chicago in one day, as planned.

    G’night!

I just wanted to let you know how much I love your podcast!! I read pride & prejudice every year, I love it. I have also listened to the librivox recording of it already, and I am still anxiously anticipating every new episode. It’s so nice to listen to someone talk about the book and hear their perspective on it. All of my girlfriends think Jane Austin’s works are just “girly romance novels” they just don’t get it!!

Hey BK21–I think you’re going to have to give your friends who don’t get Austen a little Empire Waist smackdown!
    :D
    I love your picture, btw!
Loving Chicago today and on the road to Sioux Falls tomorrow!
    Ta,

Just wanted to post a comment to let you know I love this podcast! I was getting ready to take a trip to Austin to see the Yarn Harlot and wanted something knitty-ish to listen to. I had already listened to all the episodes of Cast-On and wanted to try something different and found your podcasts. I listened to at least six episodes in my drive to Austin (and back) and am quickly going through the rest. Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite stories and have been enjoying listening to your cast. Even my husband enjoyed it on our trip. Keep up the great work!
